Frequently asked questions
Everything people usually ask before (and right after) connecting a mailbox.
Do I need a Meta Business account or WhatsApp API access?
No. We hold the WhatsApp Business API connection on our side. You just verify your own phone
number with a one-time code and you're ready — no Meta developer setup, no business verification.
Can I keep using Outlook / webmail alongside Witty Notify?
Yes. If you bridge an existing, already-live mailbox, we add a mail-server-level copy rule so your
real inbox keeps receiving everything exactly as before — WittyNotify just also sees a copy. See
how the bridge works for the technical details.
Can I reply from more than one WhatsApp number?
Yes. Add and verify additional numbers on your account (limits depend on plan), and every verified
number can read and reply to your inbox. You can also choose, per number, which ones actually get
pinged for new mail — handy if one number is yours and another belongs to a colleague.
Will a reply I send actually look like it came from me?
Yes. By default, replies go out from your forwarding address through our relay. If you connect
your own mailbox's SMTP credentials, replies go out through your own provider instead, with your
own address and your provider's DKIM/SPF/DMARC — indistinguishable from an email you sent normally.
Can an email get sent by accident?
No — this was a deliberate design decision. Just opening or reading an email never arms a reply.
Only explicitly tapping Reply does, and even then you're shown a preview with a dedicated
Send Email button before anything actually goes out.
Does Witty Notify read or store my emails?
Email bodies and attachments are encrypted (AES-256-GCM) before they're written to our database —
see Security & Privacy for the full picture. We don't sell or
share your email content, and we only exist to move mail between your inbox and WhatsApp.
What about attachments?
Attachments are received and sent as native WhatsApp files (photos, PDFs, documents), stored
encrypted, with sensible size and count limits per message to keep things fast and reliable.
What plans are available?
Free — 100 messages, 1 WhatsApp number, 2 allowlisted senders.
Starter — pay-as-you-go credits, 2 WhatsApp numbers.
Basic — 2,000 messages/mo, 2 WhatsApp numbers, 5 allowlisted senders.
Pro — 10,000 messages/mo, 5 WhatsApp numbers, unlimited allowlist.
Business — 50,000 messages/mo, unlimited WhatsApp numbers, priority support.
I forgot my password — what now?
Use Forgot password on the sign-in page. We'll email you
a reset link; your new password is hashed with Argon2id and never stored or seen in plain text,
including by us.
What are message templates?
Reusable message text with
{{placeholders}} you fill in at send time — e.g. a template
"Hi {{name}}, your order #{{order_number}} is confirmed!" can be reused for every order
with just the name and number changing. Create them on the Templates
page or via the API, then reference one by name from POST /v1/messages with a
variables object instead of writing out the message text each time — useful if you're
sending the same kind of message programmatically through the API.
Can I message customers who've never messaged me before?
Only with a Meta-approved WhatsApp message template — a different, stricter thing from the
Witty Notify template above. WhatsApp only allows plain free-text messages (including ones built
from a Witty Notify template) to someone who's messaged your number within the last 24 hours; for a
first-touch notification to someone who hasn't, register a template on the
WhatsApp Templates page — no Meta Business Manager
account needed — wait for Meta's approval, then send it via
whatsapp_template on
POST /v1/messages; see API Keys for the exact
request shape.
Can I mute a sender, or flag one as VIP?
Yes. Per-sender rules let you mute WhatsApp notifications from someone whose mail you don't need
pushed in real time, or mark someone as VIP so their mail is flagged clearly when it arrives.
I'm interested in acquiring the whole platform, not just using it — is that possible?
Yes — see Acquire this platform for details on what's included.
